Manage extra resources

In terms of IREX, "extra resources" shall be understood as more services that help IREX users with the execution of their regular tasks. As of now, they are:

  • Venues, such as buildings and plans — to help the users quickly get an answer to a question like "What happened on the 3rd floor of City Plaza".
  • Edge servers — to allow more efficient system configurations as for stable performance and lower channel requirements.
  • Locations —  to help users quickly get an answer to a question like "What happened at Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles".
  • Person and vehicle lists — to manage face and license plate recognition in a way compliant with ethical regulations.
  • Alarm monitors — to better organize teamwork at incident response centers
  • Map marks and mark types — to help the user navigate on the map.
  • External connections — to integrate IREX with external devices e.g., those providing automatic access into an area.
  • Road objects — to control traffic rule violations at crossroads, squares, etc.

A resource may or may not be assigned to a user group, keeping in mind, on the one hand, efficient organization considerations, and ethical limitations on the other.

Admins manage the resources in dedicated sections on the program settings screen, which opens through the User menu — Settings.

Access to resources vs user group hierarchy

  • Assignment of a resource to a "child" group automatically assigns the same resource to all the group's "parents" up the hierarchy, and the same for unassignment.
  • "Parent" group's access inherited from its "children" cannot be cancelled directly, i.e., this way, for example, to cancel that "children's" access, the rest will occur automatically.

No “orphaned” resources

A resource cannot be left “orphaned”, i.e., without at least one user group that has it accessible. If needed, delete the resource itself.
